The short version

wmux does not operate a backend that holds your data. The desktop app runs on your own machine, the iOS client talks only to the wmux daemon on your computer, and neither one sends your source code, terminal output, or agent conversations to us. We have no accounts, no sign-in, and no user database.

wmux for iOS

The iOS app is a client for the wmux daemon running on your own Windows PC or Mac. It stores and transmits the following:

  • Pairing credentials. The address of your own daemon and its authentication token, held in the device Keychain. They stay on your device and are sent only to the daemon you paired with.
  • Push token. An Apple Push Notification Service token, so wmux on your computer can alert you when an agent needs an answer, if push is enabled. A default install sends no push. When push is enabled, notifications pass through the project's relay addressed by that token; their content comes from your own machine and its text is sealed so that only your phone can read it, not the relay. Routing details — the push token, a device identifier and a per-pane identifier — travel in plain text. The lock-screen Live Activity carries a few counts (such as how many agents are waiting) and your computer's name in plain text.
  • Files and dictation you send. Photos or files you attach, and text you dictate, are relayed to your own computer to be handed to the agent. They are not stored by us.
  • Camera, microphone, speech recognition and Face ID are used only when you invoke the feature that needs them — scanning a pairing code, dictating a reply, or unlocking the app. Face ID is handled by iOS; the app never sees your biometric data.

There is no third-party analytics or advertising SDK in the app, and no data is collected for tracking as Apple defines it.

The app also has a demo mode that runs entirely on sample data with no computer connected. Demo mode sends nothing anywhere and does not touch the Keychain.

The desktop app

wmux for Windows and macOS runs locally. Your terminals, git worktrees, agent sessions, and scrollback stay on your machine. wmux sends no model requests of its own; the agents you run talk to their own providers under their own terms, not ours. The app contacts the network for these things:

  • Updates. Checking for a new release (on by default) and downloading it, verified against a published SHA-256.
  • Usage figures. To show how much of your Claude quota is left, wmux reads Anthropic's usage endpoint with your own Claude sign-in. Automatic checks are off by default; a manual refresh reads it once on request. Neither is a model request. Codex quota comes from the Codex process already running on your machine.
  • GitHub, through your own gh CLI. Pull request status (checked every few minutes for the branches on screen) and the Git page use the GitHub CLI with your own login.
  • Your iPhone, if you pair one. The connection to the paired app, plus push notifications and the Live Activity described above when push is enabled (off in a default install).
  • Whatever you or your agents ask it to do — for example loading a page in the built-in browser, or a webhook you configure.

This website

wmux.app is hosted on Vercel and uses Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to count page views and measure loading performance. These are aggregate and cookieless; we do not build profiles of visitors. Your browser's requests reach Vercel's servers, which is covered by Vercel's privacy policy.

The former iOS beta request form

wmux for iOS is now available on the App Store. This website no longer embeds the TestFlight request form. The earlier beta request form was hosted by Google Forms, and submitting it sent what you typed to Google rather than to this site.

We used those responses to send TestFlight invitations and to decide which testers to invite first. Your email address was used for the invitation and nothing else — there is no newsletter, and we do not sell or share the address. Write to us and we will delete your entry.

Google's own handling of the responses is covered by Google's privacy policy.

What we never receive

  • Your source code or diffs.
  • Terminal output, agent conversations, or channel messages.
  • Your AI provider API keys or subscription credentials.
  • The contents of your workspaces, in any form.

Children

wmux is a developer tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
