wmux · comparison
Looking for a Superset alternative on Windows?
Choose wmux if you need Windows, an OSI open-source license (MIT), per-hunk adoption across task diffs, or bots you hand jobs in chat.
Choose Superset if you are on a Mac and want Linear and Slack integration, scheduled automations and the iPhone/iPad app (Pro).
Superset (superset.sh — the coding-agent IDE, not Apache Superset) runs Claude Code, Codex and 20 other built-in CLI agents, or any custom one, in parallel git worktrees, with a diff viewer, an in-app browser, automations and an iPhone/iPad app. It is a capable tool, but macOS is its supported target: the Linux AppImage is "experimental and untested" and Windows is "planned with no date." Its source is public under the Elastic License 2.0, which is source-available rather than an OSI-approved open-source license.
wmux is an MIT-licensed ADE for AI agents that runs the same parallel-worktree workflow natively on Windows 10/11 (ConPTY-native, no WSL) and macOS on Apple Silicon. Every agent is a real terminal pane, agents coordinate over channels, and a daemon keeps terminal processes running when the app closes.

* Open source: Superset's source is public under the Elastic License 2.0 (source-available, not OSI-approved); wmux is MIT-licensed.
* Per-hunk adoption of task diffs: Superset's diff viewer stages and unstages per file, and lets you edit lines or send selected PR lines to an agent; wmux lets you tick individual hunks across task diffs and applies the selection to your working tree in one step.
* Keep processes on app quit; recover saved work after reboot: Superset's terminal daemon keeps agents running when you quit or update the app; recovery after an OS reboot is not documented. wmux restores saved workspaces after a reboot and resumes Claude Code conversations when their session IDs are known.
* Phone companion app: Superset for iPhone and iPad requires Superset Pro and iOS/iPadOS 26 or later; Android is not available yet. wmux's iPhone companion answers agents on your Windows PC or Mac; wmux has no Android app.
* Agent-to-agent channels & task delegation: Superset's orchestrate skill turns a Claude Code or Codex session into a coordinator that launches and monitors workers through the Superset CLI; wmux adds shared channels with @-mentions plus A2A task delegation.
* Approval gate when one agent launches another: Superset launches Claude Code and Codex with their permission-bypass flags by default (removable in Settings) and surfaces agents' own approval prompts. wmux asks you before an agent starts another agent with permissions bypassed.
Where Superset is ahead
- Integrations: start workspaces from Linear issues or Slack messages, and send PR review lines straight to an agent.
- Automations (Pro) that run agent sessions on a schedule and leave a live workspace to review, plus remote access (Pro) to workspaces on another machine.
- Design Mode in the browser pane, Pages for reviewing agent reports with your team, and built-in superset:* skills that teach agents to drive the app.
- An iPhone and iPad app (Pro, iOS 26+) for follow-up prompts, diff review and merging PRs on the go.
- A Mac-first app with daily releases.
Why people pick wmux instead
- It runs on Windows today — ConPTY-native, no WSL — as well as macOS on Apple Silicon.
- MIT-licensed rather than source-available, so you can fork and redistribute it freely.
- Fan-out and harvest: one prompt to up to 8 tasks in their own worktrees, then tick hunks across task diffs and apply the selection to your working tree in one step.
- Bots: name a bot and tell it what to do in chat; it starts Claude Code workers on their own branches, runs tests and reports back, and public acts like merging a PR wait for your approval.
- An approval gate for cross-agent execution: an agent cannot start another agent with permissions bypassed until you say yes, and unanswered requests are declined after 30 seconds unless auto-approve is on.

If you are on a Mac and want Linear and Slack integration, scheduled automations and an iPad app, Superset is a strong choice. If you need the workflow on Windows, want an OSI-licensed tool, or want agents coordinating over channels with a hunk-level review step, wmux is built for that.
